Ownership , Optimism, Openness, and Outside-the-box lead to Success
“The basic principle which I believe has contributed more than any other to the building of our business as it is today is the ownership of our company by the people employed in it.” – James E. Casey
·
Objective. You
must have a definite objective in your life to be achieved in a reasonable time. Once that is set, plan
your resources and strengths and work hard to achieve your objective.
· Observant. You
must observe carefully the function of your team and the response of your
customer/vendors. You can pick up a lot of useful information by just walking
through and observing your workplace. This will help you in guiding and
supporting your team.
·
Obstacles and Road Bumps. In every career, there will be roadblocks/ bumps at various
stages affecting your progress. You have to be proactive and steer clear of
those hurdles and maintain your journey.
·
Offend None. Being
friendly and supportive of your team is good virtue while offending someone is
causing pain to him/her and loss of trust. Ignore minor mistakes/slippage of
your teammates and appreciate good achievements by them. You should not offend
any teammate, senior, or others without any solid reason.
·
Offering. Always
offer to help hand to the needy. at the workplace, on-way to office/home, and even .in the locality you live. Do not
wait for requests to come from others but a step forward and offer help. This I
noble cause and will py you rich dividend soon
·
Openness. Openness
is an important step toward building mutual trust in a team. Your communication
should be frank with no hidden agenda. Your team will respect you and work
harder toward your mission.
“I
find that when you open the door toward openness and transparency, a lot of
people will follow you through.”– Kirsten Gellibrand
·
Opportunity. Opportunities
come once a while like a flying bird sitting on your window. If you take
initiative and grab the opportunity, it is yours, else it will disappear soon
and someone else will take advantage. Those who are slow in decision-making keep thinking and analyzing but those who are knowledgeable and have
initiative will jump at the opportunity.
·
Opinionated.
While being a team leader or member of a team you have the time to express your
opinion but give full consideration to the views of your seniors and peers. Do
not get carried away with your point of view and feel bitter if your point of
view is not considered. There can be other options for the organization and you
should be flexible, instead of being highly opinionated.
·
Optimistic.
As you have been chosen for the job by a selection committee, you have the requisite
knowledge and aptitude required for the job. Therefore stay optimistic during
difficult stages of your job/project/ service and you will sail through.
“Optimism
is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and
confidence.” –
Helen Keller
·
Organization. Always
love your organization and speak well about your organization. You must serve first
your organisation, respect and act as per your seniors and support your peers
and team members.
·
Orientation to Organizational Goals. You must share the vision and mission of the organization. If
you are aligned to the organization, your team will follow you and there will
be a success for all
·
Out-0f-the--Box. Think
innovatively, and find the solution out-of-the-box. It is not always to do
something different but even doing the same thing but differently leads to a
greater success.
·
Outsider. In some organizations, there is a tendency to hold back information when someone
joins from outside. This is a complex of insecurity or threat to their
positions. They may treat the newcomer as an outsider and let him/her struggle and
figure it out. This may happen at any stage and you must ensure this culture is
eradicated. Instead, there should be a welcome and induction/orientation program
for every new entrant.
·
Overstepping the Boundary. Always work within your jurisdiction and o not overstep
limits since people are often sensitive and possessive about their area of
responsibility and resources.
·
Overstretch. You
may sometimes overstretch your team to meet the deadlines. However, you should
ensure that your workforce do not reach breaking point.
·
Ownership. If
you own something you will protect it and will not let any harm come to it. It
is very important for you to own the organization and your team. You will enjoy
doing your job, even if it tough going.
